So about last night... Royal Rumble PPV (27/1/2019)

So about last night… The Royal Rumble was a fantastic PPV from Start to Finish with some surprises.
Let’s get into the show!

Pre-show
We start with the first match which is a random RAW Tag Team Division match between Gable & Roode vs Rezar and Scott Dawson.
The story here is that Akam is out with an injury but Rezar wants to fight, so Drake Maverick (Manager for AOP) has come up with a match in that IF Rezar and Scott Dawson win, then AOP will face The Revival and who ever wins THAT match will face Gable & Roode for the Tag Team Championships.
Bat shit crazy and it just mig- nope… Gable & Roode won. Pointless match
United States Championship match
Lana got bumped by Rusev, roll up by Shinsuke for the pinfall. Shinsuke Nakamura is the NEW United States Championship.
Cruiserweight Championship Match
Fatal 4-way, Kalisto, Hideo Itami, Akira Tozawa vs Buddy Murphy. Yeah, it was a good match but would have liked to see the title change to someone like Itami. I feel like he could have done with that victory. Buddy Murphy retains the title!
Main Show
SmackDown Women’s Championship.
This was a good solid opener with Becky taking the loss very much early on in the show which foreshadowed what was going to happen last in the show. Asuka retains the championship.
SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
We knew this day was coming, Shane McMahon who is the BEST PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER IN THE WHOLE WORLD! has won the title. Good match overall. Nice punches from Shane, some offence by The Miz. What could have been a coast-to-coast was reversed into a Cesaro swing.
McMahon then finished the match by doing a Shoot Star Press onto Cesaro for the victory. Congratulations Shane & The Miz.
RAW Women’s Championship
Good match. Nothing much to write home about here. 4 Horsewomen sign at the end. SKIP.
Women’s Royal Rumble Match
Highlights:
- Kairi Sane
- Maria Kanellis
- Candice LeRae
- Kacy Catanzaro
- Io Shirai
- Rhea Ripley
- BECKY FUCKING LYNCH!
Becky came down and replaced Lana who had a broken ankle from the opening from the Pre-Show (Remember when she got bumped by Rusev)
Skipping the WWE Championship match. Weakest on the card, but was OK. Bryan retains!
Universal Championship
Fair play to Finn Bálor for putting in as much offence as he could. He came up short but made for some great fun in this match and I hope that Finn gets another shot at the title after Mania.
Men’s Royal Rumble:
Highlights:
- Jeff Jarrett
- Kurt Angle
- Johnny Gargano
- Mustafa Ali
- No Way Jose
- Pete Dunne
- Aleister Black
- Jeff Hardy
- Nia Jax
Great to see Seth winning this and I hope that he gets the title off Brock at Wrestlemania.
And that is my views on Royal Rumble 2019. 🙂
