So about last night... RAW (14/01/2019)

So about last night’s RAW and it was a very good one.

A Shakeup, A Reveal and a Title Change!

Let’s get into it!

Introduction

The show began last night with Braun Strowman saying that he is going to defeat Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble but then Baron Corbin came out, ran his mouth and ran away. Braun gave chase.

Corbin hid inside the Limo that Vince McMahon arrived in at the top of the show, Strowman smashed the glass, kicked a wing mirror, and Corbin fled the scene.

Before Strowman could start chasing Corbin again, he was stopped by Vince McMahon.

McMahon stripped Strowman of the Universal Championship match at Royal Rumble and fined him $100,000. Now there needs to be new opponent for Brock Lesnar.

Vince has an announcement

Vince is out to announce whom is going to face Lesnar at Royal Rumble for the Universal Championship only to be interrupted by John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Finn Bálor.

Bálor wants to prove to Vince that he can face Lesnar and proved it by attacking Corbin. McIntyre cleared house and Vince from the apron declares that there will be a Fatal 4-way match to determine who will face Lesnar at Royal Rumble.

Women’s Tag Match

Previously, there was a row backstage and it ended up The Riott Squad wanted to take on Bayley & Natalya. But they would be 3v2, so they could pick someone to join them.

That person was Nikki Cross. After her SmackDown appearance back in November, she is now taking on The Riott Squad and pick up the victory.

Balor & Mahal.

Before Balor can take on 3 other people for the chance to face Lesnar at Royal Rumble, there is a roadblock in the form of Jinder Mahal.

Mahal’s partner Sunil Singh was launched across a table by Braun Strowman on the opening section of RAW and Mahal demanded to be put in the Fatal 4-way. Vince said that if he wanted in, he would need to beat one of the 4 contenders. And if Mahal won, he would replace that person in the Fatal 4-way. Mahal chose Balor and the match was set. Balor to keep his spot open and get back his Universal Championship that he vacated the night after SummerSlam 2016.

Nothing mach here, but Balor won. He keeps his spot and we’ll see him later in the show.

Triple Threat for the IC Title!

After last weeks performance on RAW, Lashley got himself a title opportunity along with Seth Rollins for Dean Ambrose’s IC Title.

Lio Rush got involved in this match by breaking up a pinfall and taking Rollins out of the ring.

Lashley speared Ambrose to pick up his first Intercontinental Championship. The first title change on the main roster in 2019.

A moment of Bliss

  • Paul Heyman was her guest.
  • Alexa Bliss reveals the NEW Women’s Tag Team Titles that would be won at Elimination Chamber. We already covered the news here!
  • Otis Dozovic appeared and fangirled over Bliss
  • Tucker Knight restrained him and removed him from the situation.

Main Event

And it’s time for you main event, who will go on to face Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble PPV for the Universal Champion.

  • John Cena
  • Drew McIntyre
  • Baron Corbin or
  • Finn Bálor

And the winner was… Finn Bálor!

I am very happy to see Bálor in the title picture for a title that he never lost. I hope he wins it this time! #ComeOnIreland !

And that was this week’s RAW. Not a bad show compared to the last few weeks and hopefully this makes the Universal Title match a bit more of a bigger deal than what it should be.
